As an experienced trauma therapist and consultant, trained in multiple trauma treatment models, I am passionate about supporting therapists who find themselves stuck in their clinical work or looking for support in their development as a trauma therapist. Whether discussing specific interventions or clients or working together to explore the intersection of the person of the therapist and the practice of therapy, I consider it a privilege to support therapists and healers in their work with clients.

I am passionate about helping people understand complex concepts in a way that can be applicable to one’s practice of helping others heal or in one’s own healing journey. About Me
My Name is Ryan Van Wyk, PsyD, LP (he, him, his)
I am a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in MN. I am an experienced clinician, presenter, consultant, and writer focused on the integration of trauma informed care approaches into the systems that most significantly impact people, including mental health, medicine, substance use treatment, and other social services. I currently work as the Specialty Lead for Mental Health Services Center at North Memorial Health Clinics (Robbinsdale, MN). In my clinical practice, I specialize in working with people whose lives have been impacted and disrupted by trauma and who, in an effort to cope with their trauma, struggle with persistent dissociation, substance use, self-injurious behavior, and eating disorder symptoms.
In addition to my full-time position at North Memorial Health, I am also the Senior Behavioral Health Officer for the MN Army National Guard, with a current rank of Major. I am a veteran, having deployed in 2019 to Kuwait with the 34th Infantry Division Red Bulls as the Division Behavioral Health Officer in support of Operation Spartan Shield. In 2015, I founded MN Trauma Project, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aims to increase awareness of trauma and its impact on individuals and communities and to increase accessibility to trauma informed care in the state of MN. We have hosted numerous workshops and trainings for therapists and healers in the state of Minnesota to increase awareness of how to support those clients working to heal from trauma.
I have had the opportunity to provide presentations and training for community organizations, conferences, and treatment providers in Minnesota and nationally. I enjoy consulting on the implementation of trauma informed care practices, communication, leadership, and supporting therapists through clinical consultation.
